Course Length: The workshop includes a 1 hour break from 12-1pm. Downtown Fullerton with its huge variety of restaurants is in walking distance.

Deconstruct a Novel
Discuss how to deconstruct a novel – what makes a good novel? Look at main components such as plot and character development
How to read like an editor – what to look for, suggestions for revision
Create Great Character
What makes a great character?
How to develop a great character
Think of a character to create, create a character profil.
Develop character – what do they look like, what is their body language, how do they sound?
Christine will assist students with in depth character development
Develop a Plot
Read a writing example and discuss how the plot develops
What drives the plot? Character-driven? Action-driven?
Consider a plot to develop – students begin to create an outline for their own writing
Write At Least 20 Pages
Using the plot development already started, create scenes to include in their own writing of at least 20 pages

Artist Bio - Christine Granillo
Christine Granillo received her BA in English at California State University, Fullerton in 2007. Her poetry has been featured in an art exhibit and has future plans to publish her writing. She is currently working towards her Masters Degree in English to pursue a career as a college English teacher.
